Top-Seeded Women's Tennis Earns Four ASUN Postseason Honors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Atlantic Sun Conference announced Monday that North Florida Women's Tennis had a conference-best four players earn 2026 ASUN Postseason selections.
North Florida's 2026 ASUN Postseason selections were highlighted by senior Luarie Barendse's ASUN Player of the Year and Head Coach Catherine Dunagan's ASUN Coach of the Year awards.
With an undefeated regular season in hand at 22-0, North Florida will be the No. 1 seed in the 2026 ASUN Championships in Fort Myers from April 16-18. North Florida is the only Division I team in the nation to finish its season undefeated in 2026.
Head Coach Catherine Dunagan captured the 2026 ASUN Coach of the Year award. It marked her third ASUN Coach of the Year honor in just her seventh season at the helm of the program.
Dunagan led North Florida to its first undefeated regular season in program history. North Florida's 22-0 record in 2026 is the program's best since its initiation in 1995. Dunagan posted an undefeated 6-0 record against other ASUN head coaches this season. She was the only head coach in the conference to beat every ASUN opponent that her team faced.
Dunagan led North Florida to an 91-24 overall record in singles and a 40-13 overall record in doubles this season. Both of those marks were the best of any team in the ASUN. Dunagan led North Florida to eight sweeps in 2026 – the most of any team in the ASUN. With Dunagan's guidance, North Florida didn't drop a point in a match and notched six-straight sweeps from its match against Charleston Southern on Feb. 13 to at Queens on Feb. 21.
Dunagan guided North Florida to five ASUN Player of the week awards this season – the most any head coach had in the ASUN this season. She was the only head coach in the ASUN to have two players win two ASUN Player of the Week awards.
Under Dunagan's leadership, North Florida was the only team in the ASUN to earn a spot on the ITA Division I National Rankings. With Dunagan's tutelage, North Florida was ranked in the ITA National Rankings for eight straight weeks this season. Dunagan led North Florida to its highest ITA National Ranking (No. 49) since 2021.
Dunagan surpassed 100-career wins in just her seventh season at North Florida against UAB on March 13. Dunagan led North Florida to an undefeated 13-0 home record for the first time since 2020 (shortened COVID year) with a win over Austin Peay on March 29. With Dunagan's guidance, North Florida became the only undefeated Division I Women's Tennis program in the nation at 17-0 with a win against North Alabama on March 22.
Dunagan led North Florida to impressive non-conference wins over FAU, USF, FIU, Troy, South Alabama, Colorado State, Air Force and Davidson.
Senior Laurie Barendse earned 2026 ASUN Player of the Year and ASUN Scholar Athlete of the Year honors. Barendse was named a 2026 First Team All-ASUN honoree.
Barendse posted a 16-4 record at the one line in singles and a 15-4 record at the one line in doubles to lead North Florida to its only undefeated season in program history (22-0). Barendse is just one of two players in the ASUN to play every match this season on court one in both singles and doubles.
Barendse was a two-time ASUN Player of the Week in 2026. Barendse posted an undefeated 6-0 record in singles and an undefeated 6-0 record in doubles against ASUN opponents this season.
Barendse saved two team match points in her victory at USF to earn the match-winning point on court one, 2-6, 7-5, 7-6.
Barendse and graduate student Isabel Oliveira won 2026 ASUN Doubles Pair of the Year honors.
Barendse and Oliveira posted a 14-1 record as a doubles pair. Every match they played together as a doubles pair this spring was on the top doubles court.
Barendse and Oliveira posted an undefeated 6-0 record as a doubles pair against ASUN opponents this season.Â
Barendse and Oliveira's 14 wins as a doubles pair were tied for the most in the ASUN this season. Barendse and Oliveira have won their last 10-straight matches as a doubles pair.
Oliveira earned a 2026 First Team All-ASUN accolade.
Oliveira posted a 13-1 record at the two line in singles and a 14-1 record at the one line in doubles. Oliveira played on court two in singles and court one in doubles in every match she appeared in this spring.
Oliveira was a two-time ASUN Player of the Week in 2026. Oliveira posted an undefeated 5-0 record in singles and an undefeated 6-0 record in doubles against ASUN opponents this season.
Sophomore Aryana Bartlett rounded out North Florida's All-ASUN selections with a 2026 Second-Team All-ASUN distinction.
Bartlett notched a 17-4 overall singles record in dual matches, and a 15-5 overall doubles record this spring.
Primarily at the three line, Bartlett tallied a 14-2 singles record this spring. Bartlett posted an undefeated 6-0 record in singles and a 3-2 record in doubles against ASUN opponents.
The three Ospreys on the First and Second Team All-ASUN are the most since 2021.
Freshman May Fadida, who was signed just two months before the spring season started, earned 2026 ASUN All-Freshman Team honors.
Fadida tallied a 13-4 overall singles record in dual matches and a 12-4 overall doubles record in dual matches this spring.
Fadida started the spring season with a 12-1 dual match singles record. She posted a 10-3 overall record at the four line this spring. She posted a 9-2 record at the three line in doubles.
North Florida led the ASUN with five weekly awards honorees this season.
Barendse, Oliveira, Bartlett, graduate student Anslee Long, senior Jasmin Makela and sophomore Gabby Goyins collected Academic All-ASUN selections.
