Softball Run-Rules Georgia Southern To Sweep Spring Break Challenge

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball earned an 8-0 run-rule win over Georgia Southern to sweep the Spring Break Challenge at UNF Softball Complex on Sunday afternoon.

The Ospreys improve to 24-5 overall and increase their win streak to 11-consecutive games.

UNF jumped ahead early with a two RBI double into left field from sophomore catcher Caiden Oliva. Oliva would come around to score off an RBI single from senior infielder Ayden Allen to plate the third run of the first inning.

After an Oliva one out single in the third, junior infielder Hannah Davila would launch a two-run homer into left field to extend North Florida's lead to 5-0. For Davila, it marked her second-straight game with a homer.

Oliva would notch a single in the fifth inning. Back-to-back RBI triples from Davila and Allen would give the Ospreys a 7-0 lead headed into the sixth.

Junior utility player Addie Keef roped a one-out triple down the right field line and was brought in by an Oliva double - her fourth hit of the game and her first four-hit game as an Osprey - to run-rule Georgia Southern in the sixth inning.

Junior right-handed pitcher Cameron Ponich earned the win for North Florida with six shutout innings, three strikeouts and just two hits allowed to improve to a team-best 11-1 on the season and a team-low 0.77 ERA.
