JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For the second time this season, North Florida Softball's junior right-handed pitcher Cameron Ponich was named ASUN Pitcher of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday.
"Cam continues to impress. She's off to a great start at 9-1," Head Coach Jeff Conrad remarked. "She's done a really good job of carrying the confidence she built this summer leading her team to a championship."
North Florida has earned ASUN Pitcher of the Week honors three times this season after Ponich received the honor on Feb. 17, and sophomore Macie Hunolt collected the honor on Feb. 9. North Florida took home six ASUN Pitcher of the Week honors between four different pitchers in 2025.
Ponich earned three wins this past weekend to help North Florida sweep the UNF-JU Classic.Â
She posted a 3-0 mark with 18.0 innings pitched including two complete game shutouts, no runs allowed, 16 strikeouts and limiting batters to just a .117 average.Â
Ponich posted five no-hit innings with a pair of strikeouts to help North Florida run-rule Tennessee Tech 10-0 on Feb. 26. She posted a complete game shutout with seven strikeouts against DePaul on Feb. 28. Ponich would conclude the weekend with six shutout innings, one hit allowed and seven strikeouts against Tennessee Tech on March 1.Â
Overall, Ponich leads the Ospreys with a 9-1 record and a team-best 0.81 era.Â
North Florida welcomes Brown, Southern Mississippi, Presbyterian and Georgia Southern to UNF Softball Complex for the Spring Break Challenge from March 6-8.
