STANFORD, Calif. – No. 16-ranked North Florida Beach Volleyball dropped a pair of ranked matches at the Stanford Invitational on Friday.Â

North Florida fell to No. 18 Washington, 3-2, and No. 11 Long Beach State, 4-1. Â

After Washington commanded the early lead with a win on the four line, junior Cameron Humphries and senior Mackenzie Murphy tied the score with a 21-17, 21-17 win at the two position. Washington added wins at the three and five line to clinch the match. Senior Presley Murray and redshirt junior Sophia Notaro turned in a three-set win, 21-18, 21-23, 15-12 at the one line.Â

Senior pair Andrea Da Silva Encinas and Madison Espy responded to a first-set loss to earn a three-set win, 15-21, 21-16, 15-13, against Long Beach State. Long Beach State secured the match with wins at the one, two, four and five line. Â

North Florida returns for the second day of the Stanford Invitational, where it will battle Houston Christian at 11 a.m. and host No. 2 Stanford at 3 p.m. ET.Â
