No. 16 Beach Volleyball Sweeps UNC Wilmington, Splits Matches At Seminole Beach Bash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – No. 16-ranked North Florida Beach Volleyball split a pair of matches on day one of the Seminole Beach Bash at the Florida State Beach Volleyball Courts on Friday.

North Florida fell to host No. 6 Florida State, 3-0, before it responded to sweep RV UNC Wilmington, 4-0. The result against UNC Wilmington marked the second sweep of the season for North Florida.

Against UNC Wilmington, North Florida clinched the match at the one, two, four and five line. The Ospreys were leading at all five lines when the match was clinch. Junior Cameron Humphries and redshirt junior Sophia Notaro earned a 21-19, 21-14 win at the one line. Senior Madison Espy paired with sophomore Natalie Villalon for the first time this season to take the four line, 21-14, 21-10.

Junior Eden Anderson and graduate student Alexandra Hennessey added a 21-10, 21-15 win at the five line. Senior pair Presley Murray and Mackenzie Murphy posted a 21-18, 21-8 win at the two line. Freshman pair Samantha Crosby and Kamryn McDonald led 21-17, 20-16 on three when the match went final.

Murray and Murphy were looking to force a third set with a 16-14 lead in the second set at the two line against Florida State when the match was clinch.

North Florida returns to the sand to battle No. 14 Florida Atlantic at 12:15 p.m. ET and RV South Florida at 5:15 p.m. ET on day two of the Seminole Beach Bash.
