No. 17 Beach Volleyball Defeats No. 14 Stetson, Splits Matches To Open Dolphin Duals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – No.17-ranked North Florida Beach Volleyball split a pair of matches to open action at the Dolphins Duals at Jacksonville's Payne Sand Volleyball Courts at Dolphin Beach on Friday.

North Florida fell to RV South Carolina, 3-2, and then defeated No. 14 Stetson, 3-2.

South Carolina recorded wins at the two, three and four line. Senior pair Presley Murray and Mackenzie Murphy recorded a 21-17, 21-19 win at the one line. Sophomore Natalie Villalon and freshman Ally Bunch added a 24-22, 21-16 win at the five line. It marked the first career win for both Villalon and Bunch.

North Florida opened the match against Stetson with wins at the two and four line. Junior Cameron Humphries and redshirt junior Sophia Notaro posted a 21-12, 21-19 win at the two line, and senior Madison Espy and junior Eden Anderson added a 21-14, 25-23 win at the four line. After Stetson claimed the next two points, senior Andrea Da Silva Encinas and freshman Samantha Crosby bounced back from a first-set loss at the three line to clinch the match in a three-set win, 19-21, 21-17, 16-14.

North Florida returns to the sand to battle RV Florida Gulf Coast at 12 p.m. and Jacksonville at 4 p.m. ET to close out the Dolphins Duals on Saturday, Feb. 20.
