
Softball Walks Off Stony Brook For Undefeated UNF-JU Invitational Weekend

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball walked off Stony Brook in the eighth inning, 4-3, to finish the UNF-JU Invitational weekend with an undefeated 5-0 record to move to an 11-1 overall record on Sunday afternoon at UNF Softball Complex.
Caiden Oliva was the hero in the eighth inning with an RBI single to left field to score Marley Nagy as the winning run. It was her second RBI of the game with the first coming with a bases-loaded fielder's choice that scored Addie Keef from third to tie the game.
After Ayden Allen recorded an RBI single of her own shortly after in the first inning to go up, 2-1, the Seawolves scored two runs of their own on an RBI double in the third. In the fifth inning, Bella Cimino delivered another clutch moment with an RBI double to score Kalyn McCarthy and tie the game at three all.
After Grace Shaw nearly ended the game with a walk-off in regulation, Cameron Ponich entered the circle and worked through the eighth with no runs allowed after inheriting a runner on second base. She secured her third win of the weekend and fourth of the season after Oliva's walk-off hit to win the game.
Ponich finished the week with a 3-0 record and two complete-game shutouts in 13 innings pitched with 16 strikeouts, no runs and only four hits and one walk allowed. She remains the only Osprey with a perfect 0.00 ERA on the season with a 4-0 overall record, 18 strikeouts, five hits and only one walk allowed.

North Florida will make its first road trip of the season over to No. 5 Florida for the first of two games against the nationally-ranked Gators this upcoming week on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 6 p.m., in Gainesville, Fla.
No. 6 Florida will then return the favor and head over to UNF Softball Complex the following day for a rematch on Wednesday, Feb. 16, set for 6 p.m., once again in Jacksonville, Fla.
