BOCA RATON, Fla. - North Florida volleyball fell in its first road match, 3-0, at Florida Atlantic inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena on Tuesday night.
Junior middle blocker Yarimar Francis Garay and senior middle blocker Kierstyn McFall both posted a team-high 13 kills. McFall tied a career high with .800 hitting.
Freshman setter Sofia Dawson dished out a team-high 21 assists and added five digs. Senior libero Maymie Guthrie was active defensively with 11 digs.
UNF 0, FAU 3 (24-26, 18-25, 13-15)
- Set 1: North Florida jumped out to an early 4-2 lead behind kills from Kaili Doctor and Yarimar Francis Garay. A service ace by junior libero Emma Pohlman knotted the score at 24 apiece, but Florida Atlantic scored the next two points to take the victory.
- Set 2: The Ospreys and Owls were tied at nine after senior opposite hitter Mackenzie Piester notched a kill. Florida Atlantic responded with a 15-8 run to win the set.
- Set 3: A pair of kills by freshman outside hitter Fallon Humphries helped North Florida grab an 8-7 lead. Garay tallied back-to-back kills late in the frame, though the Ospreys' deficit was too much to overcome.
