
Volleyball Completes Reverse Sweep To Defeat Appalachian State, 3-2

BOONE, N.C. - North Florida Volleyball defeated Appalachian State, 3-2, in a thrilling reverse sweep in the Mountaineer Classic at Holmes Convocation Center on Saturday.
Fourth year outside hitter Kaili Doctor posted a match-high 17 kills, in addition to seven kills and two blocks.
Second year outside hitter Leah McDonald notched a pair of career-highs with 13 kills and five blocks, in addition to .281 hitting and six digs.
Third year outside hitter Dakota Spurrier added 13 kills, six digs, three blocks and two aces.
Fourth year libero Emma Pohlmann recorded a career-high 19 digs and a match-high three aces.
Second year setter Sofia Dawson tallied a team-high 42 assists.
UNF 3, APP 2 (16-25, 14-25, 26-24, 27-25, 15-11)
SET ONE:
Spurrier led North Florida with three kills and Doctor added two kills, respectively. Appalachian State posted 15 kills total to North Florida's nine.
SET TWO:
The second frame featured three ties and two lead changes. Doctor notched a kill to cut North Florida's deficit to 15-9. The Mountaineers went on a 6-0 run to help secure the win.
SET THREE:
Back-to-back kills by Doctor saw Appalachian State narrowly trail, 7-5. Spurrier put down a kill midway through the set to help keep the margin within reach. Second year middle blocker Haleina Bowers posted her third block amid the frame.
SET FOUR:
Spurrier recorded back-to-back aces to help give the Ospreys a 5-0 lead in the early going. Spurrier and fourth year middle blocker Yarimar Francis Garay combined for a block, extending UNF's lead to 12-8. Doctor reached double-digit kills in the set to help the Ospreys tie the match, 2-2.
SET FIVE:
McDonald reached her career-high in kills, leading UNF to an early advantage in the frame. Spurrier's 13th kill of the match cut App State's advantage to 6-4. Francis Garay and McDonald posted a combined block to tie the score at 10 apiece. North Florida closed out the frame on a 5-1 run to secure the match.
