Schroeder, Mansbendel Lead Way in Opening Round at Lady Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. - North Florida women's golf started its first round of play at the Lady Paladin Invitational with Kaitlyn Schroeder and Mohea Mansbendel leading the way on Friday afternoon.
The Ospreys had their top three players – Schroeder, Mansbendel and Brianna Castaldi – combine for nine birdies with all three among the top 45 overall. Ines Izuzquiza Ruiz de Arana made an impressive collegiate debut with five birdies in her opening round, while Ava Cottis played in her first tournament contributing to the team score at UNF.

ROUND REFLECTIONS
- Schroeder notched a pair of birdies and a string of pars on the back nine to start off at 2-over 74.
- Mansbendel started the day with a birdie on the sixth hole and put up back-to-back birdies on the back nine to join Schroeder at 2-over 74.
- Both Schroeder and Mansbendel were tied for ninth in par-three scoring average at even-par (3.00).
- Mansbendel also is among the top 10 overall in par-five scoring average at 2-under (4.50).
- Castaldi recorded three consecutive birdies at the beginning of the back nine to turn in 3-over 75.
- The junior leads all players in the tournament in par-five scoring average at 3-under (4.25).
- Braydn Smith, along with Cottis, each scored a birdie over their first 18 holes to wrap up the day at Furman.
- Izuzquiza Ruiz de Arana joined Schroeder and Mansbendel at 2-over 74 in her collegiate debut as an unattached individual.
- The freshman is second overall in total birdies among the field with five total through 18 holes.
- The Ospreys stand in fifth overall in the 16-team field for par-five scoring average at 2-under (4.90).
