
Benning Awarded D1Softball Mid-Major Player of the Year

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - North Florida softball's Allison Benning has been awarded D1Softball's Mid-Major Player of the Year, as announced by the national organization on Wednesday afternoon.
Benning adds on to her national awards list with a pair of Second Team All-American recognitions, as well as NFCA Second Team All-Region honors and CSC Academic All-District distinction. She's the first player in program history to receive national superlative honors from either D1Softball or Softball America.
"Congrats to Benny on her D1 Mid-Major Player of the Year recognition," said head coach Jeff Conrad. "Having our season play out in a regional final was huge for our program and allowed Benny an opportunity to perform on the national stage. It was a great opportunity for the softball world to realize just how good she is."
Benning has racked up a plethora of postseason awards earning the trifecta of ASUN Player of the Year, ASUN Pitcher of the Year and ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She also was named ASUN All-Tournament MVP and was named NFCA Second Team All-Region over this past month as well.
The senior finished her career during the regional weekend where she led UNF in the circle for 315 pitches over a span of 48 hours. She helped lift the Ospreys to a pair of victories against nationally-ranked Virginia in the NCAA Columbia Regional for the program's first regional title game appearance.
