OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - North Florida softball's Allison Benning has been named to Softball America's Second Team All-American squad as a two-way player, as announced by the national organization on Thursday afternoon.
It's the first time in Division I program history that an Osprey has garnered All-American honors by a national organization. Last season, Benning was named to D1 Softball's Second Team All-American by WAR for a two-way player.
She is one of three players from a non Power-Four program to be named to either First or Second Team All-American by Softball America. She was selected Second Team All-America as a utility/pitcher, only behind Nebraska's Jordy Bahl at that position.
The senior is coming off a NCAA regional weekend where she led UNF in the circle for 315 pitches over a span of 48 hours. She helped lift the Ospreys to a pair of victories against nationally-ranked Virginia in the Columbia Regional for the program's first regional title game appearance.

"A big day for Benny and the UNF softball program. The first All-American in softball during the D-I era is a big deal," said head coach Jeff Conrad. "She put her elite skill set on display on the national stage. This recognition is well earned and deserved."
Benning has racked up a plethora of postseason awards earning the trifecta of ASUN Player of the Year, ASUN Pitcher  of the Year and ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She also was named ASUN All-Tournament MVP and was named NFCA Second Team All-Region over this past month as well. The senior is coming off a NCAA regional weekend where she led UNF in the circle for 315 pitches over a span of 48 hours.
