JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida baseball completes its regular season slate with its second and final River City Rumble weekend against Jacksonville from May 15-17 at John Sessions Stadium.
There will an ESPN+ broadcast for the all three River City Rumble games. Updates will be made through live stats, as well as on X/Twitter at @OspreyBSB and Instagram at @OspreysBSB.
On-Base Machine
Nick Monile continues to be one of the toughest hitters in the ASUN to keep off the bases. Since Monile arrived in Jacksonville, he has started all but one game this season for Joe Mercadante. The Osprey center fielder has reached base safely in 48 of 51 games played this season, recording a hit in 37 of the contests. While he has only recorded 18 RBIs, Monile has been a table setter at the top of the lineup, and he leads the 'Spreys in runs (45).
Alford SMASH!!!
Freshman Seth Alford has found himself starting consistently for UNF. The infielder has found his stride and his numbers show it. In a midweek matchup with UCF, Alford tied the game in the ninth on a solo home run. He currently leads the Ospreys in HRs (9) From April 6-11, Alford tallied seven hits in three contests. In a three game series vs. Stetson, Alford cracked two home runs on Friday, April 25. Alford homered twice last weekend against Queens.
Conference Cade
Cade Bush has been red hot at the plate since ASUN play began! Bush is hitting .388 in ASUN play. He has hit safely in 16 games and has reached in all but three games played thus far. Against Queens in March, Bush drove in multiple RBIs in each game of the weekend series and cracked his first ASUN home run of the season. He tallied five hits in game one against West Georgia and has 31 hits against ASUN opponents.
Terrific Treichel
Bryson Treichel has been an instant impact pitcher for Joe Mercadante. While he did not start the season in the rotation, he soon found himself comfortable in the Saturday starter role. Treichel has struck out 74 batters, good for sixth in the ASUN so far. The righty has struck out at least six batters in seven of his last nine starts.
Kade "Felix Bautista" Humphrey
RHP Kaden Humphrey has been one of the most lockdown relief pitchers in all of baseball. Humphrey has eleven saves this season, good for first in the ASUN and tied for eighth in all of D1 baseball. His fastball and splitter combo has been the biggest reason opponents are hitting .190 against him. Humphrey and has 45 total strikeouts this season in 27.2 innings.
Postseason Bound
North Florida clinched a spot in the ASUN tournament with a sweep of Queens last weekend. It will be their first trip to the postseason since 2022.
