No. 17 Beach Volleyball Splits Pair Of Matches At Lone Star Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas – No. 17 North Florida beach volleyball split a pair of matches to Southern Miss and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in day one action at the Lone Star Invitational on Friday.

North Florida defeated Southern Miss, 3-2, in the invitational's initial match. Southern Miss secured a 2-0 lead with wins at the two and four lines. Sophomore Eden Anderson and redshirt sophomore Sophia Notaro added a 21-9, 21-11 win at the five line to trim the margin.

Sophomore Cameron Humphries and senior Taylor Pierce posted a 21-12, 21-14 win at three to tie the count at two all. Pierce earned the 75th win of her career against her former team.

Junior tandem Presley Murray and Mackenzie Murphy clinched the match with a three-set win, 21-17, 17-21, 15-10, for their sixth-straight match win at the top court.

North Florida fell to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 4-1, in the second match of the afternoon. The tandem of Humphries and Pierce were slotted at the two line and added their second win of the day, 21-14, 14-21, 16-14.

North Florida returns to the sand to battle a pair of top-10 opponents in No. 6 Cal Poly and host No. 7 Texas in day two of the Lone Star Invitational on Saturday.
