
Barendse Notches Second ASUN Player of the Week Honor

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Junior Laurie Barendse came through for North Florida women's tennis with a clutch top-court victory against North Alabama to earn her second-career ASUN Player of the Week distinction, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Barendse put together a comeback win in three sets on the road against the Lions to put UNF as a top-two seed in the conference tournament. With the crucial win, they received a bye round in the ASUN Championship with a place in the semifinals this upcoming weekend.
"Really proud of Laurie [Barendse] for earning this achievement in the final week of our regular season. She came through in a very key moment Sunday to help secure the victory and a top-two seed for the conference championship," said head coach Catherine Dunagan. "She is an incredibly hard working student athlete, loves the game and her team so much. Happy to see her rewarded for all the work she puts in daily."
Barendse will lead the Ospreys in the ASUN Championship tournament starting in the semifinals on Friday, Apr. 18, set for a 5 p.m., start hosted at UNF Tennis Complex.
