Women's Tennis Tallies Best Start In Program History, Improves To 10-0 With Doubleheader Sweep

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – North Florida Women's Tennis notched its best start to a season in program history and improved to 10-0 with a pair of sweeps against Davidson and Queens on Saturday.
The Ospreys opened the doubleheader with a 4-0 win over Davidson and then followed it with a 7-0 win over Queens to remain undefeated on the season. It marked the sixth-straight sweep for North Florida.
North Florida earned the doubles point against Davidson with wins at the one and three lines. Freshman May Fadida and sophomore Aryana Bartlett earned a 6-2 win at the three spot, and the point was clinched when senior Laurie Barendse and graduate Isabel Oliveira added a 6-4 win at one.Â
In singles action against Davidson, North Florida earned the sweep with wins on courts one, three and four. Fadida turned in a 7-6, 6-2 win on four to extend the lead, while Bartlett added a 6-4, 7-6 win at three. Barendse clinched the sweep with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 win at the one line.Â
In the match against Queens, North Florida clinched the doubles point with a 6-0 win from Barendse and Oliveira at the top line and a 6-1 win by sophomore Gabby Goyins and senior Jasmin Makela at the three line. North Florida picked up its second sweep of the day over Queens after it posted six straight-set wins in singles action.Â
