
Barendse Earns ASUN Player Of The Week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida Women's Tennis senior Laurie Barendse earned Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week honors on Tuesday.
"Laurie had an outstanding weekend," North Florida Head Coach Catherine Dunagan said. "It's incredibly rewarding to see her results reflect the relentless work she puts in every single day to elevate and refine her game. She's definitely earned it."Â
It marked the second ASUN Player of the Week honor for North Florida this season. Barendse posted undefeated 3-0 records in both singles and doubles action while helping lead North Florida to its best start a to season in program history. North Florida's 10-0 record in 2026 is its best since the program's initiation in 1995.
The Netherlands native, Barendse, tallied two point-clinching wins in doubles and two match-clinching wins in singles across three road sweeps at Presbyterian on Feb. 15, at Davidson on Feb. 19 and at Queens on Feb. 19.Â
Barendse dominated in doubles with a win at Presbyterian, 6-1, and clinched the sweep for the Ospreys in singles that same match, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0.
She clinched the doubles point at Davidson without dropping a set, earning the win, 6-0. Barendse clinched the sweep for North Florida at Davidson with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 win at one.
Barendse clinched yet another doubles point with a 6-0 win at Queens and later cruised to a singles win, 6-1, 6-2. With Barendse playing at one in singles and doubles, North Florida's hasn't dropped a point in either since Feb. 7.
North Florida returns to the court at Air Force on Friday, Feb. 27 at 1:30 p.m. ET.
