JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball splits its second and final doubleheader day in the Spring Break Challenge on Saturday evening at UNF Softball Complex.
The pair of games for the Ospreys were highlighted by a shutout victory against Army, 5-0, but fell in their rematch against Mercer, 5-1, to close the night. Both
Allison Benning and
Chloe Culp had solo homers against the two teams, while
Kelsey Vogel was on fire from the plate with a 3-for-3 performance against the Black Knights.
A fifth-inning offensive outpour against Army was what pushed the Ospreys to its first victory with RBI knocks from Vogel,
Grace Shaw-Rockey and
Mackenzie Woods.
Macie Hunolt spun a complete game with only two hits allowed and seven strikeouts to notch UNF's ninth shutout of the season.
