JACKSONVILLE - Andreas Scott helped North Florida men's tennis to an undefeated start in conference play to be awarded his second career ASUN Player of the Week honor, as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
Scott put together an undefeated week going 3-0 in singles matches, including back-to-back comeback performances to start ASUN play against Queens and Eastern Kentucky. Both wins were crucial for the Ospreys to their current three-match winning streak, including a 2-0 start in conference.
The junior was stellar as the top-court player in his three wins, especially the epic road victory against EKU. He fought through a three-set match that went down to tiebreakers in the first two sets, as he ultimately pulled out the third set, 6-4.
"Andreas [Scott] is learning how to play at a higher level at the top of the lineup. He has now won three matches in a row, including two massive come-from-behind wins in conference play," said head coach John Collins. "He consistently shows so much competitive fight in his matches. This is another exciting honor for him, but we have more work to do. Go Ospreys!"
Scott return to his home court this weekend with three matches in two days against Bellarmine, Rider and Austin Peay from Mar. 21-23 at the UNF Tennis Complex.
