JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball took care of business on its second day of opening weekend with victories against Jacksonville State, 2-1, along with a five-inning thumping of Western Carolina, 8-0, in five innings, for a sweep on Saturday evening at UNF Softball Complex.

The first game was a close contest in a rematch between the Ospreys and Gamecocks after UNF lost a close one to JSU on Friday night, 3-1. North Florida returned the favor throwing out a runner at the plate in the seventh inning to secure the revenge win in the first of two games on the docket.

Allison Benning was the highlight in the second game in the rematch against Western Carolina with a three-run home run in the fourth inning to give the Ospreys its first run-rule win of the year. Taylor Cook, as well as Macie Hunolt in the first game of the day, secured their first collegiate wins in the circle, as the freshmen pair combined for 10 strikeouts.
