50 Yard Freestyle Record Broken Twice in One Day
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - North Florida women's swimming kicked off the first day of the 2025 Atlantic Sun Swimming & Diving Championships by breaking the school record for the 50-yard freestyle not once, but twice on Wednesday.
Â
During the morning preliminaries Victoria Torres touched the wall in 23.53, breaking the record previously set by Camryn Greenleaf back at the 2019 CCSA Championships. Ashley Kephart would then go on to break the record set by Torres in the morning during the evening finals, finishing with a time of 23.48 to secure the fastest 50-yard freestyle time in program history.Â
In the final race of the day, the group of Katie Carlos, Ashley Kirby, Kayla Daley and Kephart broke the school record for the 200-yard medley relay with a combined time of 1:42.96. The record, held previously by Carlos, Torres, Daley and Marcia Shaw was set at the Gamecock Invite back in November.Â
All told, two school records were broken and six top-ten program times were set by the Ospreys in a successful first day in the Volunteer State.Â

COFFEY TALK
"This was one of the best first days in my time here at UNF. In the morning session, we had many personal bests and top-ten program times. As well, Victoria Torres broke the record for the 50-yard freestyle. From the morning session, we had five swimmers qualify for the finals at night. We started the finals off with strong swims from Paige Munna and Kayla Daley. In the 50 Freestyle, Abby Noga recorded the second fastest time in program history and Ashley Kephart broke the school record. Breaking a record twice in one day is pretty amazing. To finish the night, the team of Katie Carlos, Ashley Kirby, Kayla Daley, and Ashley Kephart broke the 200 Medley Relay record. It was a very good start for us and we look forward to more fast swims tomorrow morning. " --- head coach Ian CoffeyÂ
