
Oriol Scores 19, Men's Basketball Falls At No. 3 Florida In Opener

GAINESVILLE Fla. – North Florida Men's Basketball fell to No. 3/3 Florida, 104-64, in its season opener at the Exatech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center on Thursday night.Â

Senior guard Kamrin Oriol posted a team-high 19 points on 8-17 from the field and 3-8 from three in 29 minutes. It marked the 12th game of his career with 10 or more points.Â

Freshman guard/forward Trey Cady added 13 points, five rebounds and two steals in 18 minutes in his collegiate debut. Freshman guard/forward BJ Plummer also turned in his first collegiate points in 17 minutes.

Oriol beat the shot clock and connected on a deep three, one of his three threes in the game, for the Ospreys' first points. Sophomore guard Kent Jackson connected on a three from the top of arc to secure North Florida a 6-4 lead at the 17:38-minute mark of the first half.Â

North Florida traded scores with Florida and trailed 10-9 at the initial media timeout. Graduate student guard/forward Dalton Gayman knocked down a pair of free throws out of the break to secure a 11-10 lead for North Florida at the 15:31-minute mark of the first half.
