Erickson Lands First Career ASUN Golfer of the Week Award

JACKSONVILLE - North Florida men's golf brings in its first conference weekly award of the season, as redshirt sophomore Danny Erickson landed his first career ASUN Golfer of the Week honor, as announced by the league office on Thursday.

In his second season playing with UNF, Erickson has been the top scorer in each of the past two tournaments highlighted by his performance at the Bryan Bros Collegiate hosted by South Carolina earlier this week. It's the third time in the last four seasons that an Osprey has garnered weekly honors during the fall season.

"Danny [Erickson] made some nice strides this week getting into contention," Director of Golf Scott Schroeder stated. "Now he needs to keep working to do it more often."

Erickson placed 37th overall among the stacked field with a pair of under-par scores to finish the extended weekend at 1-over 214 on the par-71 course. He recorded his season-best round on the opening day of play with a 3-under 68 score with five birdies.

Erickson and the Ospreys head back home to regroup for their trip down south to play in the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational hosted by USF from Oct. 19-20 in Vero Beach, Fla.

Scored 10 total birdies, including five during the opening round, for his first round in the 60s this season.
Was one of two Ospreys to card an eagle through 54 holes at South Carolina.
Played against multiple Power Four teams, such as LSU, Clemson, South Carolina, Duke and NC State.
