JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's basketball dropped a tightly-contested game to West Georgia, 79-71, inside UNF Arena on Saturday.
In her first career start, freshman guard
Jamisyn Stinson scored 14 points behind a 4-for-10 performance from three in 28 minutes. Senior guard
Kaila Rougier added 17 points on 6-for-11 from the field in 37 minutes.
Freshman forward
Jasmynne Gibson neared a double-double with 13 points and eight rebounds in 23 minutes.

FIRST HALF: North Florida went on a 12-0 run toward the end of the first quarter and through the opening portion of the second quarter to take its first lead of the game at 16-15 at the 7:24-minute mark...after trailing 15-8 at the end of the first quarter, North Florida outscored West Georgia 23-16 in the second quarter to tie the game at 31 heading into the half...
Kaila Rougier beat her defender and finished with a layup in traffic to beat the first half buzzer and led all Ospreys with 12 of her 17 points in the first half.
SECOND HALF: Jazmine Spencer collected a steal and finished in transition to give North Florida its largest lead of the game at 49-41 with 1:31 minutes left in the third quarter...North Florida outscored West Georgia 18-13 in frame to take a 49-44 lead at the end of the third quarter...West Georgia took the lead for the final time at 52-51 with 7:21 minutes left in regulation and held off a late comeback attempt from North Florida...Stinson led the late comeback attempt with 11 points behind 3-6 from three in the fourth quarter.
