JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida track & field looks to finish out its '24 season in style with the ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Championships on deck from May 9-11 in Conway, Ark.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida outdoor track & field started off its home meet weekend with 12 athletes recording personal-best marks on the first day of the East Coast Relays at Visit Jax Track on Friday evening.
The Ospreys had its best performances of the day come from its distance runners, as it got a top overall finish from Ilias El Khattabi in the 3000mS. Robert Pedroza and Aidan O'Gorman also finished first as unattached runners in the 1500m and 5000m invite races respectively.
On the men's side, UNF had Ryan Douihech join Pedroza and O'Gorman in the top four for the 1500m, as well as three runners in the top seven of the 5000m invite, including both O'Gorman and Seth Martinez in the top two. They also went 1-2-3 in the 3000mS with El Khattabi, O'Brien and Perry, followed by Colton Lawson in eighth, as all four runners recorded lifetime marks.
Jada Williams (3000mS), Erica Fisher (5000m invite) and Billie Castillo all went top five in their respective races for the women, while a Hannah Martinand Isa Leen went top 16 with personal-bests in the 1500m. Celine D'Anna also had a nice day for the short distance runners with a personal-best in the women's 400mH, while Rey Hernandez was top 10 in the men's 400mH.
The 400m hurdles prelims and the 10,000m final is a great way for us to kick off the ASUN Championships. While we don’t have the numbers to compete for a team championship, we do have some very good events. Celine [D'Anna] and Rey [Hernandez] have shown great progress this season and it is an exciting opportunity for both of them. We have depth in the distance races, so we’re hopeful to have some new faces up front for the men. On the women’s side, we look forward to seeing the trio of Hannah [Martin], Isa [Leen] and Erica [Fisher], along with Emma [Millson] and Billie [Castillo] running well in the 10k.-- head coach Jeff Pigg
