Broermann, Rougier Propelled Ospreys to Double Overtime Win
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's basketball (9-19, 3-11) had their stars step up in its final home game of the season, as various big shots and momentum shifts ultimately went the Ospreys' way in a 91-84 double-overtime senior day victory over Kennesaw State (10-18, 6-9) on Saturday afternoon at UNF Arena.
Emma Broermann had a final home game to remember with a season-high 24 points and 12 rebounds for yet another double-double performance for her fifth of the season. Kaila Rougier nearly matched with 23 points shooting 5-for-12 from distance, while Lyric Swann scored 13 points, including the game-tying corner trey at the buzzer to send the game into double overtime.

First Half: The scoring started early with buckets from Broermann and Rougier from the rip...Rougier went back to the three-point well, followed by an Adams' jumper to take the early lead...back-to-back layups from Broermann continued to add up points for the Ospreys in the first period...into the second quarter, Broermann executed on an and-one basket to pull within single digits again...the next four field goals were made from range, as Rougier, Taub, Swann and Adams each made one in the run to go into half with a one-point lead.
Second Half: After the Owls got six points out of the break, the Ospreys went on a 13-0 run, which included another Broermann and-one, a three from Adams and a score from Taub assisted by Adams...Broermann extend the slight lead to three with another feed inside in the paint...Washington drove in and hit an off-balance buzzer beater to go up by six points at the end of the third...after being held to one point in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, Rougier and Swann made back-to-back layups to go up by one...the same pair hit three-pointers in the clutch to stay above by three points...Rougier made a go-ahead basket with 1:30 left, as well as the game-tying layup with 10 seconds left to force overtime against Kennesaw State.
Overtime: The same starters played the rest of the way through, starting with Swann and Broermann making layups in a back-and-forth affair...after KSU went up by four points, Rougier got the quick layup with 12 seconds left in the first overtime period...after a missed free throw by the Owls, it put life back into the Ospreys, as Swann drained a three from the corner as time expired to force the second overtime...Rougier went back to shooting from distance with a deep three to stay within one, followed with a third Broermann and-one bucket...Taub forced two offensive fouls and scored the next five points for UNF to extend its lead to seven...made free throws and defensive stops the rest of the way gave the Ospreys an exhilarating win on senior day at UNF Arena.
