Swann Hits Season-High 21 Points
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's basketball battled in a back-and-forth contest with Lyric Swann hitting a season-high 21 points, but ultimately fell to Queens (N.C.) on Thursday night at UNF Arena.Â
The Ospreys held a four-point advantage with under two minutes to play, but the Royals hit back-to-back makes to secure the victory. Emma Broermann and Jayla Adams paced the team in rebounds with 11 and seven respectively, a season-high for Adams.Â

First Half
Ospreys got off to a solid start with four straight points to begin the contest thanks to a jumper by Swann and a pair of free-throws by Sarah Taub … the Royals would tie things up before Swann hit her first three of the affair to regain the lead … Broermann grabbed her first bucket of the night to make it 10-6, but Queens (N.C.) would go on a 6-0 run for its first lead of the game … UNF responded with three-straight makes from Kaila Rougier, Adams and Broermann and a trip to the line for Helena Rafnsdottir to make it 19-14 Ospreys … a jumper from the Royals and a free-throw make by Adams saw UNF with a 20-16 lead after the end of the first … both teams would go back and forth to start the second quarter with the Royals knocking down a three before Rafnsdottir drained her first three of the night … Swann grabbed her second trey and Alex Washington made her first bucket to take the Ospreys lead to six … Queens would retake the lead on the back of a 5-0 run to make it 29-28 … Broermann and Kyla Cain both had trips to the charity stripe before halftime, but the Royals would take a 35-31 lead into the break.Â

Queens would take its lead up to 10 out of the half with back-to-back makes … the Ospreys proceeded on a 7-0 run with scores from Broermann, Swann and Washington … Swann continued her impressive night, nailing another three taking her total to 19 … Queens would tie it and take the lead, but an and-one from Taub restored the Ospreys advantage … another back-and-forth ensued with the Royals regaining the lead again until a layup from Broermann tied things back up … a pair of free-throws from Taub and a layup by Rougier put UNF up 56-52 … the Ospreys would go into the fourth with a 58-55 lead … Rougier started off the final period hot, with a three and a layup to take her total to nine … Swann sank a jumper before Rafnsdottir found Svansdottir for the layup … the Royals made three straight buckets to tie things up at 67-67, but Adams found Washington for a wide-open three to regain the lead for UNF … the Ospreys would make it 72-68, but back-to-back scores from the Royals would put the game out of reach with the final score being 77-72.Â
