Set to Play Eight Games, Will Host UCF Oct. 22
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball announces an eight-game exhibition slate for the fall season that includes games against a pair of Power Five opponents in UCF and Florida State.
The Ospreys will host seven of the eight games on their schedule, including a matinee matchup against UCF on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m. It will be the second of two games that day for the Knights, as they play against Jacksonville just three hours before at 10 a.m., with that game hosted at UNF Softball Complex as well.
UNF also travels to Florida State to cap off the fall season in what will be their lone road game on their slate. It is also set to be a 10-inning exhibition, which will be one of three 10-inning games played by UNF.
Outside of the Power Five programs, Florida State College of Jacksonville (FSCJ), St. Johns River State College, College of Central Florida and Sante Fe College will fill out the remaining schedule for the Ospreys. FSCJ and College of Central Florida will be 10-inning games, while St. Johns River and Santa Fe are set to be doubleheader matchups.
"We are excited to get out and play. I really like what I have seen so far out of our group," said head coach Jeff Conrad. "Starting year nine, I think this is the deepest and most talented team we have had over that time. It will be exciting to see how these position battles play out over the fall."
North Florida opens the fall season with Florida State College of Jacksonville (FSCJ) on Friday, Oct. 6, at 5 p.m., with a 10-inning exhibition at home. Just a week later, they will stay home with their first doubleheader of the fall against St. Johns River on Friday, Oct. 13, starting at 4 p.m.
On Friday, Oct. 20, the Ospreys will compete in another 10-inning game against the College of Central Florida with first pitch set for 6 p.m., at UNF Softball Complex. Just two days later, UCF comes to town to play the Ospreys on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m.
After their exhibition against the Knights, UNF will play its last set of home games in a doubleheader against Santa Fe College on Friday, Nov. 3, starting at 3 p.m. To close out the fall season, the Ospreys will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., to face off against Florida State in a 10-inning matchup on Friday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m.
