FORT MYERS, Fla. - North Florida took the final game of its series against Florida Gulf Coast at FGCU Softball Complex in Fort Myers, Florida, on Sunday afternoon.

A throwing error to begin the contest allowed graduate student Hallie Langford to advance to second base. A sacrifice fly from junior infielder Bella Cimino, her team-best fifth of the season, drove Langford home to give the Ospreys an early lead.

After a one out single from senior outfielder Taylor Shephard and a walk from sophomore outfielder Grace Shaw, junior infielder Hannah Davila and senior infielder Ayden Allen belted back-to-back RBI doubles to give the Ospreys a 4-0 lead.

For Allen, it marked her team-high eighth double of the year. Junior utility player Addie Keef would add another run with an infield single to cap off a four-run second inning.

The Eagles would cut into the Osprey lead with a run of their own in the bottom half of the frame.

FGCU would tie the game 5-5 after a five-run bottom of the fifth, however the Ospreys would immediately answer back with a two-run double from Shaw in the sixth inning to retake the lead for the final time.

A solo home run from Cimino, her team-leading eighth of the season, would add to the Osprey lead in the seventh inning.

After starting for North Florida, senior right-handed pitcher Kate Peters re-entered in the bottom of the sixth and held FGCU scoreless for the remainder of the game. She improved to 7-2 this season with the win.

With the win, North Florida improved to 23-1 when scoring first and 14-4 in day games.
