
Garcia Fernandez Joins Women’s Tennis as Assistant

All-Time Wins Record Holder at FSU, Coached at Mercer
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - UNF women's tennis is excited to announce the addition of Andrea Garcia Fernandez as an assistant coach after a playing career at Florida State and two years on the staff at Mercer.
Garcia Fernandez spent two years with Mercer as a graduate assistant coach before arriving at North Florida. Garcia Fernandez was heavily involved with Mercer's operations on and off the court during her time in Macon. She helped design leadership and training programs, factoring heavily into the construction of workout and practice plans. Garcia Fernandez also garnered experience in operations, helping manage the team's annual budget reports, travel, meals and other related duties.
"I am extremely excited to have Andrea join our staff," head coach Catherine Dunagan said. "I watched her as a player at FSU and I love the competitiveness that she had on the court. I know that she will bring that to our program and be a great impact on our team. She has had great experience these past two years coaching at Mercer. I am excited to work with her to continue growing this program new heights."
Prior to that she put together arguably the best career in Florida State women's tennis history, setting FSU's program wins record, while surpassing 200 for her career. Garcia Fernandez would earn all-american status on the courts for the Noles.Â
The native of Spain owns a bachelor's degree from Florida State as well as an MBA from Mercer.Â

North Florida is coming off its latest ASUN Championship season in the spring of 2023, sending the Ospreys to the Gainesville regional while Kit Gulihur made an appearance in the NCAA Singles Championship as a back-to-back NCAA Elite 90 honoree.
