Birds on the Bandshell - Cheerleading Heads to NCA Nationals

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The UNF cheerleading team is headed to Daytona Beach, Fla., to compete at the National Cheerleaders Association's College Nationals held April 5-9. The National Competition will host more than 400 teams from various universities across the country and internationally.

Teams qualified for the national competition at NCA College Camp or by video qualification. The UNF cheerleading team was awarded a Gold Bid to NCA College Nationals after earning the "Best All Around" honor. The team also earned honors including: 1st place in the Advanced Large Coed Rally Routine competition, most collegiate honors at NCA Cam and several all-american athlete individual honors this past July.

UNF cheerleading will be competing as Advanced Small Coed Division I against 13 opponents, including conference rival, University of Central Arkansas. A traditional competition routine consists of standing tumbling, basket tosses, elite stunting, jumps, pyramids, running tumbling and dance thoughtfully and intentionally tied together through innovative choreography. UNF Cheerleading is set to take the mat in the preliminary competition Thursday, April 6, 2023, at 4:04pm.
