Lodise Locks in Brooks Wallace Award Watch List Attention

LUBBOCK, Texas - UNF baseball's prolific freshman shortstop Alex Lodise had his phenomenal play receive national attention Tuesday as the St. Augustine, Fla., native was tabbed to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List as publicized by the College Baseball Foundation.

The award and watch list honors the top shortstops throughout the nation, with the eventual winner being named later this season. Watch list picks and selections are recognized for illustrious defensive play combined with production at the plate.

Lodise has exhibited both this season, starting all 37 of UNF's games while pounding out a UNF single season freshman home run record 10 roundtrippers. The all-round shortstop shows off a five-tool arsenal, being able to hit for power, average, run the bases, field and throw with the best of any position player.

He is nearing many more freshman records, hitting .319 with 38 runs, 46 hits, 10 doubles, two triples, 39 RBI, 12 walks and six stolen bases. He became the first UNF freshman to be named ASUN Player of the Week since Golden Spikes Award Semifinalist Donnie Dewees was selected in 2013.

Former UNF standout and assistant coach, Andrew Hannon, was also selected to the same list back in 2010.

Lodise and the Ospreys are riding a four-game winning streak into an important weekend series at Liberty beginning Friday.
