JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - UNF men's tennis (15-6, 7-1 ASUN) defeated North Alabama (10-20, 4-4 ASUN) to advance to the ASUN Conference Tournament Semifinals. The Ospreys swept the Lions, 4-0, in the quarterfinals Saturday morning.
The Ospreys got off to a strong start in doubles play as
Bruno Vietri and
PJ Kotan earned an impressive 6-0 win on the second court. Shortly after,
Jonas Hartenstein and
Rodrigo Crespo clinched the doubles point for UNF in a 6-2 victory. The third court was left unfinished at 4-1.
The momentum continued for UNF as Crespo earned the first singles point for the team with a win in two sets.
Breno Marques took a 6-2, 6-3 win on the fifth court to give the Ospreys a 3-0 lead. Vietri clinched the win for North Florida in a 7-5, 6-1 victory. The first, fourth, and sixth courts were left unfinished.
The Ospreys will face Liberty Friday, April 21 at 11:30 a.m. in the ASUN Semifinals. The remainder of the tournament is hosted on UNF's campus and is streamed on ESPN+.
