Ospreys Split Doubleheader Against Houston Christian, No. 10 Stanford

BATON ROUGE, La. - UNF beach volleyball (20-8) reached its fifth 20-win season in program history by sweeping Houston Christian (13-15), although North Florida couldn't pull off the top-ten upset as the Ospreys dropped game two to No. 10 Stanford (21-9) Friday, April 14.

The Osprey swept HCU for its 11th such win on the season, while UNF was just points away from pushing two of the last three courts to three frames in the loss to the Cardinal.

UNF took all but one set, cruising to a 5-0 sweep of the Huskies and the 11th sweep of the season in match one. Presley Murray and Madison Espy came back from a 25-27 loss in the first frame, taking the next two by four points apiece.

Each of the remaining pairs, including Anna Mallory and Zoe Cahill at the extras slot, won in two frames.

Chantel McMilllan and Hayden Wooldridge helped even things up, 1-1, by sweeping the fifth slot as play rolled into the top three slots. Stanford turned in a sweep at the first slot, but North Florida didn't go away without a battle.

Katie Camp and Michaela Rezentes came up just points shy of taking the third slot, falling 21-13, 13-21, 17-15. Espy and Murray were on the cusp of taking both sets they played, coming up just short, 25-23, 21-19, after going toe-to-toe against Charlie Eskstrom and Maya Harvey of Stanford.
