JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - UNF men's track and field saw outstanding performances on the final day of the River City Classic at the Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium.
Timothy Doyle hit a major mark after clinching a first-place finish in the men's 800m run. Doyle ran with a smart pace behind the flock and slowly moved to the forefront for a close top finish on top of the field.
Mac Franks and Robert Pedroza accompanied Doyle in the top three, while three other Ospreys filled out six of the top seven slots. The high jumpers also shined on the field for the Ospreys, as Tariq LaJoie, Jaasiel Torres and Jacob Hippo all cleared the 2.00m bar in the men's high jump.
FINISH LINE
- Doyle earned an exceptional first-place victory for the men's 800m run.
- Franks received a personal-best and second-place finish for the 800m.
- Pedroza rounded out the group in third overall.

- Lajoie and Torres joined Hippo after they all cleared the 2.00m mark.

PIGG'S POINTS
"The men's 800m was a great race obviously, for a number of guys. I think this track meet was a week earlier than we normally would have ever opened. It was good to see the guys run that fast, so I was really pleased with that. Tim [Doyle] obviously had a strong finish and that's kind of his trait. It's good to see that his kick is strong and a lot of those guys doubled back.
In the high jump, I thought the boys did a really good job. Everybody cleared two meters and just gave us a great baseline for where those guys are. Coach Krupa can set up the training appropriately and then they can just kind of go from there. In the men's 400m, I thought that Ladarius [Tellis] did a nice job. His double this weekend was the mile and the open 400m, so that's a pretty big range. Him running a 49.50, I thought that was a really good, really good 400m for him. We were certainly happy to see that."
