
Franks Breaks Program Steeplechase Record at Raleigh Relays

Places 10th Overall in 3000mS, Top Time in First Four Heats
RALEIGH, N.C. - Macauley Franks continued his program legacy at the Raleigh Relays, as the graduate transfer bested the school record for the 3000m steeplechase on Thursday evening. The Lake Forest Park, Wash., native overturned a seven-year program record with a time of 8:48.76.
The record was previously held by nine-time state champion Fynn Timm, which was set in 2016. He positioned himself in fifth for the duration of the race to ultimately break the finish line in first. Franks landed a top-10 performance overall against several out-of-state competitors within the Power Five conferences, including contenders from Georgia, Penn, Wake Forest.
FINISH LINE
- Rewrote program history with an exceptional 8:48.76 time in the 3000m steeplechase.
- Posted a leading time in the event out of the first four heats of the race.
- Placed top 10 out of 72 respective contenders.
- Led the Ospreys in first for his respective heat.
- Went for a sub-nine mark in the race, edging out the first four heats outright.
