Higgins Leads the Group Tied For 35th Overall

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - North Florida men's golf started play in the opening round of the General Hackler Championship hosted by Coastal Carolina on Monday, March 13.

The Ospreys returned after having a break that lasted just over a month after three consecutive tournaments to start the spring. Robbie Higgins had to best score of the day for UNF with even-par 144 that included a round of 1-under 71 and eight birdies combined.

ROUND REFLECTIONS

Higgins used a great first round of play that included three birdies in a row on the back nine to play to even-par at the completion of day one.
A top-10 par-five average of 5-under (4.38) helped the junior as the top scorer on the team.
Davis Lee was right behind with five birdies in the first round and three in the second for 1-over 145 on the day.
He was also just ahead of Higgins with a top-four par-five average at 6-under (4.25).
Cooper Smith was consistent on the course with back-to-back rounds of 4-over 76.
Smith joined Higgins and Lee for the most birdies on the team at eight total.
Justin Ross and Lance Yates rounded out the UNF team score with scores of 9-over 153 and 11-over 155 respectively.
Jason Duff played as an unattached individual, as he notched an eagle to wrap up his two rounds at 7-over 151.
The Ospreys totaled 98 pars and 32 birdies through 36 holes on Monday afternoon.
