
DIAMOND PREVIEW: Stetson Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida will continue its road stint this weekend with a pair of neutral site games at the Stetson Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 25.
The Ospreys will play against Cornell at 9:30 a.m., followed by another game against Presbyterian at 12 p.m. This will be the first-ever matchup between UNF and Cornell, while the Ospreys will look to extend their undefeated streak against the Blue House in DeLand, Fla.
UNF played earlier this week with a pair of games against Florida A&M and No. 6 Florida State, as they took down the Rattlers, 1-0, but fell just short against the Seminoles, 4-3, in the night cap. Abi Annett drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh with a sac-fly to right and Izzy Kelly secured the second complete-game shutout of her career.
The matchups between Cornell and Presbyterian will be broadcasted on Stetson's YouTube channel, "HatterVision". Updates for both games on Saturday will be made through live stats, as well as on Twitter at OspreySB.
The Ospreys will continue their home tournament stretch with the Spring Break Challenge with a pair of doubleheaders against Charleston Southern and Troy from Mar. 3-4 at UNF Softball Complex.

WHAT TO KNOW
- UNF has scored 51 runs so far on the year, which is the most runs in the first 10 games of a season for the Ospreys since the 2017 season.
- They have also allowed only 25 runs scored, which is the least amount allowed by UNF since 2018.
- Ospreys are looking to win nine of their first 12 games of the season for the first time since 2015.
- All three losses this season have been to Power Five teams, which were Syracuse, Penn State & No. 6 Florida State.
- Chloe Culp continues her hot streak, as she leads the team with 12 hits, 18 RBIs, two home runs and a .414 batting average.
- Shannon Glover and Kayla Harper are two other bats that join Culp with a batting average over .300, as they all start in the outfield on a regular basis.
- Hadlee Reichert, Logan Jackson and Savannah Channell join Culp, Glover and Harper as the six Ospreys to start in every game so far this season.
- Ashley Connor, as well as Kelly have combined for a 6-1 record in the circle with 14 earned runs allowed, 29 strikeouts.
- All four pitchers have ERAs under a 2.75, as they have combined on the year for a 1.95 ERA.
- Logan Jackson extended her on-base streak to all 10 games in 2023, while Savannah Channell is not far behind with a current streak of eight straight games reaching base.
OPPONENT NOTES
- Cornell will open their season at the Stetson Invitational with games on Friday, Feb. 24, against Presbyterian and Stetson before their matchup against the Ospreys. Last season, the Bears went 17-23 overall with a 7-14 record in Ivy League play, which also included a 3-6 mark in neutral site games. Lilly Travieso is the leading hitter from last season that will be returning for Cornell in 2023, with 32 hits overall and a home run in 40 games played. Both starting pitchers from last season return with 13 wins, 228.1 inning pitched and 103 strikeouts coming back for the Bears.
- This will be the first meeting between these two teams in program history.
- Presbyterian stand with an unblemished 10-0 record to start their 2023 campaign after hosting a pair of home tournaments, along with a doubleheader against Western Carolina. They opened the season with two shutout wins against Bellarmine, who the Ospreys will be facing later in the season during ASUN play. Kendall Owens has been the hottest hitter for the Blue Hose with 12 hits while batting .500, along with five RBIs, seven runs scored and a home run. The pitching staff has been stellar as well with the team combining for a 1.10 ERA, lead by Jenna Greene at 0.80 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 35.0 innings pitched.
- UNF leads the overall series against the Blue Hose, 8-0, with the last meeting being a 2-1 victory at Jacksonville, Fla., in 2019.
