JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Head coach
Erika Lambert brought home her first career win as a collegiate head coach, as she led North Florida women's basketball (1-1) to a 116-44 win in its home opener against Trinity Baptist (2-3) on Thursday afternoon in UNF Arena.
The Ospreys notched its largest margin of victory during a home opener in D-I program history after beating the Eagles by 72 points. It is also the second-most points scored in D-I program history, only behind 2021's matchup against TBC.
The veterans bounced back in a big way, returning home with
Lyric Swann knocking down eight field goals for 18 points and
Emma Broermann posting a double-double. The freshmen also stepped up in a big way with
Alexa Washington matching Swann's 18 points, while
Tyra Brown joined Broermann with a double-double in the home debut.

First Half: Emma Broermann had the hot hand to open the game with three consecutive-scores to start off the game...UNF increased its lead to double digits with just under six minutes left in the first with
Helena Rafnsdottir driving in for the layup...the Ospreys went on a 14-0 run to end the first quarter with
Kaila Rougier hitting the buzzer beater to solidify a 40-12 score after one...the second quarter started defensively on both sides with UNF staying at a 30-point margin after Broermann's back-to-back layups...Rafnsdottir nailed the first three-pointer of the game at the 3:23 mark in the second period...Swann gave the Ospreys another buzzer beater to end the half up 55-22.
Second Half: Coming out of the break, UNF attacked immediately with back-to-back three-pointers from
Selma Eklund and Swann...the duo scored again from the field before Washington's pair of three-pointers to extend the Osprey lead to 50 points...Brown made the layup and hit the free throw afterwards on the and-one to end the third with the score at 84-29...Swann went back to shooting from distance to begin the fourth with a three just 30 seconds in...Swann and Washington exchanged made field goals for just over two minutes before the freshmen scored nine straight points of their own...a few more scores the Ospreys' way resulted in with a 116-44 win at home for the first time this season.
