
Making In-State Debut at Quail Valley Collegiate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida men's golf will play its first of four tournaments this season in the state of Florida at the Quail Valley Collegiate hosted by Michigan State from Oct. 15-16 in Vero Beach, Fla.
The Ospreys have finished in the top five in each of it last three fall tournaments to open the season. UNF has also been awarded the ASUN Men's Golfer of the Week each time after an event with Nick Gabrelcik receiving two and Robbie Higgins earning one.

TOURNAMENT NOTEBOOK
- The Ospreys will be making their seventh appearance at the Quail Valley Collegiate from Oct. 15-16.
- They played at the tournament from 2014-16, 2018-19 and 2022, making it the second straight appearance in Vero Beach.
- Have won the team title in three of its last six times at Quail Valley, including last season's win with a top-three 54-hole score in program history.
- Sights are set on first team title since last year's Quail Valley Collegiate Invite and back-to-back seasons starting the fall with four consecutive top-five team placements.
- Nick Gabrelcik was the runner-up in 2022 with a program-record 54-hole score at 16-under 200 that includes score of 65, 67 and 68.
- Robbie Higgins and Davis Lee followed in the top 10 on the player's leaderboard as well in fourth and ninth respectively.
- The trio combined for eight rounds in the 60s in nine total rounds played to help the team score 39-under last season.
- Will be facing off against seven Power Five teams, including six Big Ten teams and two in-state teams.
- Set to play first tournament in the state of Florida the season, as they have the Sea Best Invite, the Gator Invitational and The Hayt lined up in the spring.
- First of two time this season that the Ospreys will play two events on less than five days rest.
- The Ospreys will start a graduate, two seniors, a redshirt junior and a freshman this weekend.
- Two rounds of 36 holes total will be played on the first day, followed by one round of 18 holes on the final day of play.
FROM THE 19TH HOLE
- Gabrelcik is coming off his eighth-career top individual finish of his career and the first of the 2023-24 season to start his senior year. The No. 4 overall player on the PGA University rankings has a pair of conference weekly awards to his name so far this fall after his top finish at UNC and a runner-up finish at Tennessee.
- Higgins looks to get back into the top 25 for a third time in four meets when playing at Vero Beach this weekend. He also has a top-10 placement to his name from the Windon Memorial Classic, in which he earned his fourth-career conference weekly award.
- Lee is the third Osprey to make his fourth consecutive start of the fall, as he joins Gabrelcik and Higgins with a scoring average with multiple rounds under par and a tournament under par this season. He also has eight of his nine competitive rounds count towards the team score to join the senior duo at 88.9% or better.
- Jason Duff is set to make his second start of the season after playing well in his season debut earlier this week at the Williams Cup. He placed with a share of 33rd overall with a round under par through the opening 18 holes at 1-under 71.
- Cody Carroll returns to action for his third tournament appearance as a true freshman after missing the Williams Cup. He has made a name for himself early with a 72.50 scoring average, which is third on the team only behind Gabrelcik and Higgins.
