JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida track and field will kickoff its indoor season in Gainesville, Fla., in the Jimmy Carnes Invitational on Friday, Jan. 13, at the Alachua County Sports Complex.
Looking back to last year, the Ospreys commenced the 2021-22Â season with several top-five placements at the ASUN Outdoor Championship. Three Ospreys took home medals after their remarkable performances at the conference meet.
LAST TIME OUT
Top Marks at ASUN Outdoor Championship
Men
- Tariq Lajoie ended the season with a phenomenal record placing in the top five at the ASUNÂ Outdoor Championship
- Robert Pedroza earned exceptional recognition after earning second in the 800m finals
- Pedroza took home a silver medal and made a notable contribution to the team, as he was the first Osprey to earn a second-place rank in the 800m since 2018
- Aidan O'Gorman made his way to the podium after earning runner-up in the 5000m
- O'Gorman also earned a fourth place title in the 10,000m race on the first day of the meet
- The Ospreys rounded out the conference season earning a top-five finish overall at the ASUN Outdoor Championship
Women
- Mia McLain grabbed 11th overall in the women's 1500m event and secured a personal-best time of 4:38.30.
- Hannah Martin earned a time of 18:18.13 in the 5000m notching a spot in the top 15.
- Billie Castillo and Raquel Lespasio maintained similar strides earning times of 18:56.22 and 18:57.02 respectively at the conference meet.

"We are looking forward to kicking off the indoor track season in Gainesville. It is a new awesome facility. It will be such a good opportunity to compete close to home. The convenient location will really reduce the travel burden and enhance the experience of indoor track. There have been so many hours of preparation and everyone is anxious to get started."

The Ospreys will head back to Gainesville next week starting on Thursday, Jan. 19, to compete for two days at the RADD Sports College Invitational.
