CLEMSON, S.C. - North Florida men's tennis began its second weekend of the fall at the Clemson Hidden Duals as the Ospreys showed grit in a pair of three-set singles wins to kickoff the stay in South Carolina.
PJ Kotan and
Matt Carroll came out as victors for UNF in three frames, going the distance to claim singles triumphs.
Jonas Hartenstein and
Bruno Vietri rounded out UNF's lineup at Clemson, although both dropped straight-set decisions to a pair of Power Five competitors.
It was Kotan's first win in his first match of the 2022-23 campaign, as it came against Trey Stinchcomb of Clemson, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3. Carroll, coming off a doubles title at the UCF Fall Sizzler, won 6-4, 1-6, 6-0, turning around a second-set with a shutout in the third frame.
UNF faced a Power Five opponent in four of its six contests. Tomorrow the Ospreys will take on foes from Auburn, Charlotte, Wisconsin and Presbyterian.
