Ospreys Top Mid-Major Program in Country Per Ranking
NEW ORLEANS - North Florida men's cross country cracked the polls in the preseason as the number five team in the south region per the 2022 NCAA Division I Men's Cross Country Regional Rankings as released by the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The back-to-back ASUN Men's Cross Country defending champions are the top-ranked mid-major program in the NCAA DI South Region. UNF is right behind Ole Miss, Alabama, Tennessee and Florida State in the regional poll.Â
UNF has won four ASUN titles since 2016 and is poised for another strong year as the favorite in the ASUN Preseason Poll.Â
"The ranking shows respect to our program and that is always exciting for us to see," head coach Jeff Pigg said. "The region is very good this season and it's great to be ahead of some of those very good teams. It's going to be a fun season!"
UNF opens the year Friday, Sept. 9 at home.
