Brandon Mancheno Leads Osprey Pack at 5-Under 65
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - No. 39 North Florida men's golf produced an excellent first round with a 13-under 267 score at the NCAA New Haven Regional. This was the best round of the year so far for the Ospreys, as all four UNF scores that were counted registered under par and all five golfers shot at par or better.
The Ospreys are the top team on the leaderboard after the first round of an NCAA Regional for the first time since 2013, where they went on to win the Tallahassee Regional tournament. It's the second par-70 course the Ospreys have played on this year, as well as the farthest north they've traveled in program history.
Brandon Mancheno matched the lowest 18-hole score of his career at 5-under 65 on Monday afternoon after notching five total birdies, including three consecutive to close out the day, and scoring every hole at par or better. The former NCAA Championship medalist is the first Osprey to shoot a score of 65 or better in an NCAA Regional since Travis Trace in 2018.
Nick Gabrelcik also joins Mancheno in the top 10 of the player's leaderboard with his round of 4-under 66 that included six total birdies, including four out of five holes in the front nine. The Ospreys as a team combined for 19 total birdies, which ranks top-five among all teams, and only six holes combined between all five UNF golfers that were worse than par.
