Ospreys Clinch Series Win Against Crosstown Rivals
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Down 3-0 after the top of the second inning, North Florida baseball scored five unanswered runs while the UNF pitchers spun seven-straight scoreless innings to finish the game in a 5-3 win for Ospreys against Jacksonville Saturday, April 9 from Harmon Stadium.
Despite taking the no-decision, lefty Peter Holden was effective again in his second weekend start of the year. The southpaw fanned a season-best nine batters in 5.2 innings of work as he allowed just two-earned runs on four hits and four walks.
Jason Gonzalez earned the win with two scoreless frames, and Stephen Halstead secured his fifth save of the year. The duo of Gonzalez and Halstead combined to only allow two walks, while not permitting a hit.Â
Aidan Sweatt tallied a team-high two RBI and the North Florida (13-19, 4-7 ASUN) baserunners ran rampant on the Dolphins (15-13, 3-8 ASUN), swiping six bags.

Behind the Line Score
- JU struck first, scoring three runs in the second thanks to a pair of walks, a bunt that turned into a throwing error, an RBI single and a balk.
- UNF got on the board in the fourth. Cade Westbrook walked, took second on a wild pitch and scored on Aidan Sweatt's RBI single back up the middle.
- After the offenses remained quiet for the middle portion of the game, UNF took a 5-3 lead after scoring four runs in the sixth inning.Â
- Brock Edge began the inning with a double as UNF sent eight batters to the plate. After a groundout, a walk and a passed ball made it 3-2 with a runner at second. Sweatt delivered the game-tying single to right, scoring Westbrook.Â
- The go-ahead runs followed as Sweatt stole second, Trey Spratling-Williams singled to right and a wild pitch scored Sweatt. Grant Grodi skied a fly ball in shallow right that was unable to be caught by JU's Jesus Pacheco in shallow right, scoring another.
- Once again, UNF's bullpen did the trick, spinning 3.1 scoreless between Jason Gonzalez and Stephen Halstead.
