
DIAMOND PREVIEW: Softball Takes Eight-Game Winning Streak to Stetson

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball (37-11, 14-4 ASUN) wraps up road play in their regular season when it travels down to play Stetson (19-26, 8-7 ASUN) starting on Saturday afternoon at Patricia Wilson Field.
The Ospreys have been playing some of their best softball of the season with an eight-game winning streak, as well as a nine-game streak against ASUN opponents that includes three straight sweeps. They will being looking to clinch a spot in the conference tournament with a pair of wins over the Hatters this weekend.
The first games will start on Saturday with a doubleheader matchup starting at 1 pm, with the second game following 30 minutes afterwards. It will then be followed by a third game on Sunday afternoon at 1 pm.
- Halle Arends showed out once again earlier this week pulling out a win against Georgia Southern while only allowing one-hit in a game that went eight innings. She now has an ASUN-leading 17 wins on the season, as well as 138 total strikeouts that also sits atop the conference.
- Shannon Glover has been on fire during this eight-game win streak with 10 hits and nine RBI, including at least one hit in 10 of the past 12 games and four multi-hit games in each of the past four ASUN series. She had a career performance this past Wednesday against Georgia Southern going 4-for-4 with three runs and three RBI, while also being a double away from the cycle.
- Morgan Clausen is the leader of the ASUN in both ERA (1.15) and saves (six) with 12 wins in her 25 appearances this season. Clausen, along with Arends, Erin Kyle and Izzy Kelly, combine for the third-best ERA across Division I softball coming into this weekend with a 1.52 combined ERA.
- Paige Pfent remains the leader of the team in batting average at .357 and 51 hits through her 48 starts this year. In conference play, Savannah Channell has been the best hitter for the team with a .356 average with 16 hits, 14 RBI and a .622 slugging percentage.
- Bailee Aguigui and Regan Hermeling have been solid new pieces in the starting lineup over the past eight games. Aguigui has five hits and five runs, including a two-hit game against Kennesaw State, during that time, while Hermeling has recorded at least one hit in six of the past eight games.
- Kayla McGory is starting to approach a few career program records during her final games at UNF. In the D-I era, she has the most walks in program history (93), while also being seven double plays and 23 assists away from those respective records.
The Ospreys return home for their final regular-season matchup of the season hosting a three-game series to defending ASUN champions, Liberty, from Apr. 30-May 1 at UNF Softball Complex.

OPPONENT NOTES
- Stetson is 19-26 overall with an 8-7 record in ASUN play through the majority of this season. They have signature win against Maryland and a series sweep against Florida Gulf Coast. They are coming off being swept at Jacksonville and a midweek loss to No. 5 Florida State. Their head coach, Shellie Robinson, is in her first season and is the third-youngest head coach in Division I softball at 28-years-old. The Hatters have three hitters batting over .275 this season headlined by Brianna Clary with an average of .329 and 48 hits through 45 starts. She also has eight RBI, a triple, 50 total bases and 20 steals. They also have four batters outside of Clary that have five home runs or more so far this year. On the pitching side, they depend on their ace Lauren Hobbs, who has a 2.35 ERA that ranks top 10 in the ASUN. She has 12 complete games in 19 starts with eight wins and two shutouts. She also has tossed 87 strikeouts in 125.1 innings pitched. SU also has three other arms in the pen that they can rely on with all three having under 4.50 ERAs.
- UNF leads in the overall series against the Hatters, 26-17, with their last meeting being a 2-1 win on April 25, 2021, in Jacksonville, Fla.
