Beach Volleyball Splits Day One of Pool Play

Workman Reaches 76-Career Wins, Sets Program Record
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - North Florida beach volleyball (22-13) split the opening day of the 2022 ASUN Beach Volleyball Championship, dropping the first match of the day to No. 20 FGCU (24-8), before sweeping Jacksonville (10-24). UNF is 1-1 with three more matches remaining in pool play over Saturday and Sunday.
With the win against Jacksonville, Callie Workman reached 76-career wins, setting a North Florida beach volleyball program record. Workman surpassed former teammate, Chaney Howard, who had 75 wins after finishing up her career in 2019.
North Florida turns its attention to tomorrow when it faces a pair of teams from Alabama in North Alabama and Jacksonville State.
Match 1: #20 FGCU 4, UNF 1
Freshmen Madeline Camp and Mariana Feliciano-Sanchez got North Florida on the board with an impressive straight-sets win at the fifth position.Â
FGCU responded, edging out Chantel McMillan and Hayden Wooldridge in three frames to even things up.Â
The Eagles took the lead at the second slot and eventually clinched it, just barely clipping Lauren Galinis and Gabby O'Connell at the third slot. UNF's duo went up against Shelby Beisner and Trinity Rosales at the third pair.Â
FGCU added an insurance point at the first position.Â
