JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball (21-6, 2-1) will play in another midweek non-conference doubleheader matchup when it faces Bucknell (3-14) for the first time in program history on Wednesday at UNF Softball Complex.
The Ospreys are coming off their first conference series against Florida Gulf Coast this past weekend. They swept the first two games on Sunday in a doubleheader, but fell to the Eagles on the final play of the game in Fort Myers Sunday afternoon.
UNF looks to extend its excellent start to the season after going 19-5 through their non-conference schedule and 2-1 to start ASUN play. A pair of wins against the Bison would give them their best start through the first 29 games of the season in its Division I era.
- Halle Arends is fresh off her second ASUN Pitcher of the Week honor of the season after pitching a no-hitter against Tennessee State only, allowing two runs in all five appearances last week. Her 66 total strikeouts this season leads the team and ranks third in the conference.
- Morgan Clausen has the sole lead of the ASUN's best ERA at 0.62 and is the only pitcher in the conference with an ERA less than a run. She has appeared in six consecutive games without giving up a run and has only allowed four earned runs on the season.
- Erin Kyle, along with Arends and Clausen, all rank in the top three of the conference for lowest ERA and combine for the fourth-best ERA in the country. The Osprey pitching trio also has combined for 137 strikeouts and only 33 runs allowed through 27 games.
- Paige Pfent continues to wreck havoc on her opponents leading the team with a .375 batting average, as well as 30 hits, 13 RBI and three home runs this year. She had three hits during the weekend series against FGCU, including a two-hit performance on Monday.
- Regan Hermeling has been the breakout star this month for the Ospreys, as she has recorded a hit in seven of the past eight games she's started. This also includes three multi-hit games in that span with four RBI in crucial moments.
- Shannon Glover and Kayla Harper have been on a tear as well with six combined multi-hit performances over the past seven games. Glover is also tied with Pfent and Kayla McGory for the most home runs on the team, while Harper ranks second in the ASUN for stolen bases with 15 total.
The Ospreys will return to conference play when they host Lipscomb for their first home ASUN series of the season from Mar. 19-20.
