Beach Volleyball Sweeps Day Two at FSU, Defeats Southern Miss and UAB

Ospreys Go 3-1 on Opening Weekend
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - North Florida beach volleyball (3-1) made it a strong conclusion to the season-opening tournament at Florida State, earning a pair of wins Sunday after downing Southern Miss, 4-1, and UAB, 3-2.
North Florida won its last three matches in Tallahassee on the weekend, taking 12 of 20 courts of competition throughout the four matches.

"It was a good first weekend of competition against four tough opponents. I felt like we improved over each match and I am proud of how the team competed. In our last match, UAB played some quality volleyball and really put pressure on our first, second and fourth pairs."
"It was nice to see Carleigh and Lauren pick up where they finished last season, going 4-0 while clinching the match against UAB for us."
"Our exhibition pairs that played this weekend went undefeated as well, which will continue to push the rest of the team as we head into the week. We are excited to get back to work and clean up some areas in our game as we prepare for our matches this weekend at The Coop."
Match 1: UNF 4, Southern Miss 1
It didn't take long for UNF to run away with the first match of the morning. UNF won all four of its courts in succession, taking the first, fourth, second and third slots in straight sets. Southern Miss salvaged one court, taking the fifth position in three sets.
Carleigh Semeniuk and Lauren Galinis clinched their first of two matches of the day, winning 21-17 21-9.

Leah Maloney and Marisa Rogers won with ease at the third slot, getting UNF on the board first. Gabby O'Connell and Madeline Camp took care of business at the fifth slot, getting UNF out to a 2-0 lead.Â
That's when UAB made a comeback, winning at courts one and four in three sets.Â
UNF's turn to win a three-set battle came at the second slot. Galinis and Semeniuk were even 13-13 in the final frame before winning the final two points to point UAB away.
