Jubran Breaks Indoor School Record For 5k Previously Set In 1997
Meet: 8th Annual Darius Dixon Invite
Location: Lynchburg, Va.
Date: Friday, Feb. 11, 2022
LYNCHBURG, Va. -Â Nathan Jubran continued to etch his name in the North Florida record books with an unbelievable new school record in the 5K, snapping what was a 25-year record in that event, as North Florida finished day one at the Darius Dixon Invite hosted by Liberty.
Jubran broke the indoor track and field program record for the Ospreys in the 5000m race with a time of 14:01.42. The record was previously held by Stanislav Iordanov when he ran a time of 14:03.96 in 1997. His time was better than runners from schools such as Duke and Virginia. This adds on to his program-best times that he also holds in the cross country 8k (23:54.70), cross country 10k (29:51.73), and the outdoor track 10k (29:27.67) races.

PIGG'S POINTS
"Many personal-best times as our runners showed improvement. Nathan [Jubran] broke the school record with a great race. He has been running over 100 miles per week with this exact race in mind. He executed well and that was a great run.Aidan O'Gorman also ran a personal-best time with an impressive level of heart. Seth [Martinez] ran another nice race at a fastest time and competed well. [Tim] Doyle felt better and raced smart, as well as Aidan Arnold also running a very competitive race winning his section.
The women's 3k was a great race for us. They were confident and showed the work that they've been doing is making them better with almost everyone running a personal best. Mia McLain looked strong and ran her best time ever by quite a bit. EJ [Schlageter] ran in the next heat and crushed the last lap winning the heat with a huge personal best as well. Bille [Castillo], Erica Fisher, Hannah [Martin], and Chelsey Oliver all ran very well in the 3000m."
